The name is widely known among those with expertise in grilling or even those who appreciate barbecue done right. The Weber Grill restaurant in Schaumburg, Illinois, exceeds expectations by combining backyard barbecue with the elegance and class of a luxury restaurant. But don't let that fool you. The ribs are fall-of-the-bone tender, sure to leave you with a barbecue mustache at least once!

Although the word “grill” brings to mind images of picnics at the beach and Fourth of July barbecues, Weber Grill reflects nothing of the sort. With its torch-shaped light fixtures—which cast a dim glow throughout the restaurant and prompt the hushed murmurs of guests—and walls with brick like tiles, it is undoubtedly a great choice for date nights and small meetings. The booths provide adequate space for guests to sit comfortably, but also keep the party close enough for conversation. A place with a calm and tranquil atmosphere, it is ideal after a lengthy, strenuous work day.
Food – Sweet and Savory Barbecue
While the menu boasts a variety of entrees, the drink options consist mainly of wine and spirits. However, other choices including iced teas and flavored lemonades are available for family outings. I chose the China Mist Iced tea, which had a light and subtle fruit flavor, ideal for those seeking a tea that isn’t too strong.
I began my meal with the appetizer platter, which, included very elegantly adorned steak and chicken kabobs, ribs, and shrimp placed atop a mountain of onion crisps. Both the chicken and steak were well-seasoned. The steak leaned more on the tangy side due to the soy sauce, and the grilled chicken tasted sweet in a drizzle of honey mustard. The shrimp did not stand out, but were a delicious addition to the onion crisps, which – as an alternative to the traditional onion rings – didn’t need any sauce and were well worth the greasy fingers!
Understandably, the ribs were held to a much higher standard. Glazed in a fair share of the house’s rich and sweet barbecue sauce and fall-off-the-bone tender, they are every meat lover’s dream. Smoked rather than boiled or baked, they exhibit the distinct flavor of backyard BBQs.
The BBQ combo platter—containing ribs, brisket and cornbread with fries and coleslaw—provided enough food for two, or for one person with plenty to take home. Unlike the ribs, the brisket was a bit dry, but manageable when dipped into the barbecue sauce that came with the fries. Besides the golden French fries and moist, yellow cornbread, the sweet and creamy coleslaw stood out to me. I especially liked that it was served chilled, making the vegetables more crunchy and sweet.
To end the meal, I chose the Peach Crème Brule. Considering that this was my first time with this saccharine custard dish, I was unsure what to expect. Fortunately, I was not disappointed. Beneath the layer of hardened caramel, the peach flavored custard blossomed. Served warm, this thick custard brought back memories of peach ice cream on a hot summer day. Combined with the crunchy burnt sugar on top, this dessert required a glass of water to accompany every few spoonful. For those with a sweet tooth, this is the way to go.
Service – Devoted to Customer Satisfaction
Without a doubt, the service at Weber Grill in Schaumburg deserves a mention. The food was served at just the right temperature; the staff were cordial and inviting, ready to help. My server was more than happy to share her suggestions and recommendations. Rather than rattle off one or two popular options, she took the time to mention various dishes in each category – burgers, salads, pizza – that were worth trying. She helped me opt for the Crème Brule—and it was definitely worth saving room for! Also laudable is the speed at which I received my food. I am no stranger to the lengthy wait when dining out, but here it is tolerable and certainly not in vain.
Weber Grill at Schaumburg is the ideal place for older audiences seeking a quiet setting for lunch, drinks, or even dinner. You can expect courteous service, exemplary food and a relaxed ambience, meant for those who would like to enjoy their meal without the buzz and noisiness of most other restaurants.
