The collection will bring together 200 ethereal and elegant jewelry pieces spanning two centuries of European history.
September 19, 2023: Sotheby’s is set to auction a timeless treasure of the largest Viennese Imperial and Royal jewelry collection, each piece bearing the weight of regal heritage. These venerable gems and designs are related to Central Europe’s most influential ruling families across the 19th and early 20th centuries.
During Sotheby's Luxury Week in Geneva, this collection of 200 eye-catching pieces will be presented in two separate auctions on November 6 and 7, alongside the Magnificent Jewels sale on November 8. Before the auction, enthusiasts will have a chance to set their eyes on these jewels as the collection will be exhibited at Sotheby’s locations around the world.
From a charming suite of three diamond stars (estimate: 9,000 – 13,000 CHF), a ruby and diamond brooch (estimate: 90,000 – 130,000 CHF) to drop-shaped natural pearls (estimate: 270,000 – 450,000 CHF), these venerable gems and stones have witnessed the rise and fall of empires over two centuries.
Andres White Correal, Deputy Chairman and Jewellery Senior Director, at Sotheby’s, said, "This collection is arguably the most important Noble Jewels auction since the landmark sale of the Royal Jewels from the Bourbon Parma Family held by Sotheby's in Geneva four years ago. The collection is truly exceptional, boasting a unique combination of magnificent ceremonial court jewels worn by the women of Europe’s elite and royal families, as well as important assemblage of men's dress accessories, cigarette cases and objets de vertu. Presented together, their superior craftsmanship and exquisite design brilliantly showcase the style and grandeur of the Habsburg court and permit us a rich and fascinating glimpse into the private lives of these European ruling Houses when the Court of Vienna was at its most powerful and opulent.”
