The historical East India Company is re-launched in London

2010: The 400 year old East India Company has revamped and re-launched itself under a new owner, Sanjiv Mehta, with a luxury fine foods concept and flagship store on Conduit St., in London’s Mayfair. With the re-birth of the brand, customers can enjoy a portfolio of unique and enticing fine foods, influenced by tastes, cultures and traditions from across the world. The fine foods range will also be available through The East India Company e-commerce site: www.eicfinefood.com

Sanjiv Mehta, CEO, East India Company, says, "There are few countries that do not have an association with The East India Company. The team has worked tirelessly to create the most luxurious international foods to delight every one of our customers. The store has been created to be an emporium of exotic and authentic experiences and this is reflected throughout the brand."

Their range of luxury food infuses flavours from the east and west, spanning a range of goods including teas, coffees, biscuits, jams and marmalades, mustards, sweets, chocolates, gift sets, luxury hampers and accessories. Each of the products has authentic ingredients which offer a truly exquisite experience to your taste buds.

The luxury gift sets and hampers are set in striking red wooden cases complimented by black velvet. Customers can create their own hamper according to their specific tastes and flavours. The store has unique teas from around the world. The range includes The Staunton Earl Grey with Neroli, delicate shade grown Japanese senchas, Chinese Pu-erh's, fragrant Jasmine pearls, and fine British peppermint. There are over 100 different types of tea to choose from. Guests can see, smell, and taste in the 'Tea Intrigue' area, and consult with their Tea master at the specially designed Tea Library.

Coffees available are from single estates and exotic regions, like the fine Kona's and Jamaican Blue Mountain, the islands of St. Helena and the Galapagos, which may be roasted to order while you are in store. The staff will be available to discuss your favourite kind of coffee, the occasion and frequency of consumption, then take roast fresh green beans and create the perfect taste according to your preferences. In just 15 minutes, the in-store roasting machine delivers the perfect bespoke coffee.

Jams and marmalades have a twist, like Strawberry and Champagne, Rhubarb and Ginger, Strawberry and Pepper, and Gooseberry and Elderflower. Twelve mustard varieties include Mustard with Stout, Bulldog Mustard with chillies, and a unique herb Roman Mustard. Try biscuits with exceptional flavour combinations like Blue Cheese and Sea Salt, Mustard and Coriander, Indian Black Pepper Corn, and sweeter varieties such as Cherry Chocolate and Chilli, and Marmalade. Mouth-watering indeed!

Specialty and single estate salts, sugars, chocolates, oils and vinegars capture surprising flavours from around the world. A specialist tasting area has been created for guests to engage in the flavours and delights of the range. Daily events featuring different critical ingredients from across the portfolio of products will be taking place to bring the fine foods concept to life. The East India Company products range from Pounds 2-2,000.
