French home in CannesThe House at Cannes has hosted several parties and gala events including a cocktail party and an intimate dinner at LIONS and a charity event (Hollywood Dominoes) hosted by Penelope Cruz during the Cannes International Film Festival. And this already famous house is now up for sale.

This boutique 200-year old villa, which is just a 10 minute walk from the famous Croisette and the Palais des Festivals, has been re-designed by one of London’s top designers.

The charming property seems to come out straight from a French Riviera dream. The kind which you have when you think about having a long-deserved holiday on the French coasts in the lap of luxury. And why not? Designer Jason Maclean, along with his long term collaborator Yusuf Haniffa and British fashion house Eley Kishimoto have designed it like that. The sunshiny yellow colour is sprinkled in the just the right amount throughout the house. The design is an intelligent amalgam of sophistication and peculiar patterns.

The House at Cannes sleeps up to 10 people in its five en-suite bedrooms. Eley Kishimoto has designed special one-off screen prints and wallpapers for the house. It boasts a 15 person screening room with a large flat-screen TV and a working bar. The living areas have a fully-equipped kitchen and a stylish dining area. Maclean has designed the dining table, dressing rooms, closets and drawers in thick customized boards with pop art and geometric designs.

French luxury home in CannesThe bathrooms are sleek and classy. They are neat and airy. British and Irish designers from ‘UsTogether’ have fitted the master bathroom with their ultra-modern bathroom concept – the Ebb bathroom – which provides an indulgent bathing experience. All washrooms are fully stocked with plush towels from The White Company as well as complimentary Kiel’s products. They are fitted with Vola and Boffi fixtures, including their innovative ‘pipe-shower’.

They also have a kidney shaped pool and Jacuzzi, both of which are bedecked with flash print mosaic tiles from Eley Kishimoto in black and white. Thoughtfully, it is also fitted with an alarm system for the safety of younger guests.

Moving away from the French feel, the outdoor entertainment and barbecue area has a Mediterranean touch to the décor. The tiered Mediterranean gardens provide a refreshing setting with tropical palms and grass and enclosed in beautiful bamboo fencing

This pleasant villa is priced at a whopping Euro 5,500,000 (approximately INR 31 crores). But, at the risk of sounding clichéd, it is worth every penny. After all, it’s not much to live in a fantastically designed house where Hollywood stars have partied. You are buying a part of Hollywood history!
