Swarovski unveils key look for 2018 Victoria's Secret show
November 13, 2018: Austrian crystals brand Swarovski has announced that Victoria's Secret Angel Romee Strijd would be wearing the official Swarovski Look at the 2018 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Ms. Strijd will illuminate the runway as she transforms into a sparkling shooting star, adorned in over 125,000 Swarovski crystals, during the Celestial Angel section of the show.
This year's Swarovski Look, crafted by Barak, will include a full bodysuit silhouette hand-beaded with over 70,000 crystals from Swarovski resembling a star-strewn night sky. The long-sleeved bodice features a constellation of Swarovski crystals that runs diagonally from neck to hip, creating a celestial stardust effect. The crystals that were used to embellish the bodysuit come in a palette of sparkling clear Crystal and gleaming Silver Night.
Breaking the traditional concept of paired wings, the handmade 3D mono-wing has been crafted to frame Romee as a seven-pointed silver star. With circular cut outs radiating from the centre to the outer points, each has an oversized, show-stopping Chessboard crystal suspended within it. The body of the star is studded with a myriad of round flatback stones, such as Xirius, Rivoli and Chessboard. The wing, crafted by Marian Hose, also known as "Killer", took a team of experts 150 hours to apply over 55,000 Swarovski crystals weighing a total of 20 pounds.
Additionally, Swarovski will partner with VS for the first time on the Fantasy Bra, which will be embellished with Swarovski Created Diamonds, as well as on the Fantasy bra commercial collection, available from November 29 in stores worldwide.
