Sotheby's hosts first ever auction composed only of Gold

July 10, 2018: Titled ‘The Midas Touch’, Sotheby’s is organizing the first ever auction dedicated entirely to gold, the precious metal known for its’ non-corrodible and highly versatile features, whicht have mesmerised designers, artists, and those in power for over six millenia. 

This auction will tell the story of gold throughout time with an unrivalled history. Not only seen as power and status, gold has also been forged to represent the divine and sacred. The unique sale will be staged on October 17 and will coincide with an online sale, open for bidding from October 9-19, 2018.  All lots will also be exhibited ahead of time in Sotheby’s London galleries.
