Shangri-La Hotel, Paris, partners with Baccarat
October 9, 2012: Shangri-La Hotel, Paris has teamed up with Baccarat to create a delightful Christmas décor for a season filled with special activities. Enjoy a ride in an imperial horse-drawn carriage or indulge in culinary creations designed to capture the spirit of Christmas.
In the hotel’s rotunda will stand the partnership’s centrepiece, a Christmas tree, trimmed with Baccarat ornaments, their light refracted by Mille Nuits Baccarat candelabra set on a nearby console. At the hotel’s entry will stand two monumental Tsarine Baccarat candelabra.
Shangri-La Hotel, Paris has placed a giant Advent calendar, a replica of the hotel’s façade, on the console in the atrium near the Christmas tree. Behind each of the 24 windows sits a gift to be won, including two sets of Château Baccarat glasses, a complimentary Christmas Teatime or a complimentary night’s stay. Every day from December 1 to December 24, 2012, five guests, visitors or online fans will be selected at random and invited to draw from a collection of five keys. Only one key can unlock each window.
From December 21-25, 2012, the horse-drawn Calèche Impériale, the imperial carriage bearing the hotel’s insignia, will be stationed before the main entrance, ready to take up to four passengers for a 25-minute tour around the Eiffel Tower and back. Inside the carriage, guests will find a throw in faux fur and a special hot chocolate service to keep them warm.
Throughout December, guests can purchase gifts and other items from Baccarat in an in-house pop-up store. Baccarat will also be showcasing collections alongside an assortment of other products specially commissioned by Shangri-La Hotel, Paris.
Baccarat also makes an appearance atop the Bûche de Noël, the traditional French Christmas dessert that the hotel’s head pastry chef, François Perret, reinterprets each year. Nestled inside a white satin box is a cake made of fine chocolate set on a chocolate biscuit, covered in white icing with a hint of cognac and topped with a sugar lace motif bearing a mahogany crystal from Baccarat’s Médicis collection.
