Shang Palace restaurant reopens at Shangri-La Hotel Bangkok
October 30, 2013: Reopening after a ramping up, ShangPalace at Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok unveiled authentic Cantonese cuisine recently after embarking on an intensive refurbishment programme worth more than US$4 million. The new ShangPalace, with its stylish décor in rich Chinese heritage, offers distinguished private rooms and decentralised kitchen area with state-of-the-art equipment. Three new talented chefs from Hong Kong create their signature Chinese delicacies, including dim sum and barbecue dishes.
ShangPalace features lace fretwork screens veiling the view of a gilded Happy Buddha, an icon of ShangPalace that symbolises excellent health, happiness and longevity. The restaurant also presents celestial carpets, red Tang dynasty-inspired chairs, handpainted silk motifs of exotic floral and birds and stained glass windows.
Main quality ingredients are imported from the regional province where the original recipe comes from. The new ShangPalace menu showcases an extensive selection of à la carte dishes, including live seafood and barbecue specialties, desserts, and more than two dozen dim sum dishes. Classic Chinese music and a musician performing the sitar enhances the dining atmosphere at dinner. Apart from a tempting menu, diners can explore a variety of rare tea leaves from China beyond the popular oolong and green tea and all premium Chinese tea from a tea trolley service. The beverage menu also features Chinese white wine and the finest cognac and bourbon.
The restaurant has a capacity of 296. Guests with a party of 10 to 110 can enjoy their meal in the main dining area or in one of five private rooms. The five private rooms, each with its own elegant setting, presents a unique collection of artwork and lattice works with fabric-glass features that serve as ornament to the doors and add translucency to the rooms. All private rooms have individual music controls, self-contained lighting, air conditioning and high-speed Internet access.
