From eclectic embellishments to an entirely new perception of denim, America’s greatest fashion power player boosted its game.
September 19, 2023: Spring for Ralph Lauren meant rewriting their emblematic designs. There was a discernible touch of the season in the assortment. Blue and white were juxtaposed brilliantly in a unique combination of a cricket stripe crested blazer over a mini dress in tiered cotton stripe shirting, and a printed lace bustier paired with tailored pinstripe trousers.
For the evening, the designer went a notch higher with his creativity and re-envisioned denim with intricate and detailed embroidery. While a denim suit featured reverse appliqué and embroidered beadwork, an ombre floral denim maxi skirt, and a denim jacket embellished with hand-embroidered white feathers, rhinestones, and artisanal patches together enhanced the collection. But what’s the point of revisiting without bringing back the iconic pieces with a contemporary touch?
A simple black-and-white palette is accentuated with a dash of metallics. Glossy golds feature heavily in the collection. However, the collection is not just about apparel, it’s more about the brand’s commitment to creating extraordinary. The collection exudes a sense of timeless sophistication.
One of the highlights of the collection is the RL 888, which opens the show with the face of the RL 888 campaign, Anna Ewers, for its runway debut. New renditions showcase the breadth of the collection, with seasonal iterations in shades of navy, emerald, metallics, and denim fabrications. In addition to the RL 888 bag, Ralph Lauren’s Wellington bags add more opulence.
Throughout the collection, a variety of belts are used to infuse contrast, combining preppy madras, embellished tulle skirts, and delicate silks with rustic rodeo belts. Ralph Lauren’s Spring 2024 is a testament to the enduring allure of American fashion.
