Paul Smith reveals its Spring Summer 2019 collection
June 27, 2018: Luxury brand Paul Smith presented its SS19 line on the runway at Paris Fashion Week. The line centres on tailoring for men and women. Mr Smith takes gone-by trends such as, “big shoulders, big lapels and even bigger checks, wacky colours, and weird buttons” and reinvents them in a more comfortable, light-weight, everyday style.
Across the men’s outerwear looks in the line, Mr Smith uses his photo skills by placing photos taken by himself and his father, to create unique, meaningful prints. Fluid dresses and coats for women take on a more silky, painterly style.
Each style is specific and tuned into the interests of Mr. Smith. The creativity stems from his obsessions with cycling, London music movements of the 70s and 80s, and the fine details of British design. Combining these styles with ease and functionality, the line becomes versatile for any occasion.
Shoes involve a twist in shape and proportion on the casual British loafers, Chelsea boot and a new lace-up ankle boot for women introduced in snakeskin.
