Paul Smith brings aquatics to Paris Fashion Week

Paul Smith Spring Summer 2018 collectionJune 29, 2017: Beach prints were front and center during Paul Smith’s Spring/Summer ’18 Collection at Paris Fashion Week.

From the floral and aquatic motifs that are embroidered on the lapels of tuxedos, to the ocean print and beach scenery on shirts and dresses, the pieces all feature some surfer vibes.

Tailoring shapes for both men and women nod to Eighties pieces from the Paul Smith archive, in particular the notched lapels, low break points and squared shoulders. The collection also includes cross-body box bags, belts and even shirt pockets that have Japanese fish tin graphics.

The palette of the collection graduates from soft pastels of cornflower blue and dusty pink to midnight-tones and French navy, with hints of yellow and hot turquoise. The surf spirit collection concludes across deck chair striped beach bags, printed espadrilles and colorful sandals.
