Omega introduces the Globemaster, the first Master Chronometer

March 4, 2016: Together with its Oscar-winning ambassador, Eddie Redmayne, Swiss luxury watchmaker, Omega debuted the Globemaster, the world’s first Master Chronometer.

The classic Globemaster is the premier Omega timepiece to ace the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology’s tough Mater Chronometer standards, checked by eight rigorous tests over 10 days. Apart from approving the daily performance of the watch, the tests also observed the movement’s impressive behavior when exposed to magnetic fields of 15,000 gauss. The flute bezel with smoothened ridges has given the Omega watch an instantly identifiable feature.

To celebrate its accomplishment and officially launch the Globemaster line, Omega hosted an ‘Evening of Mastery” on March 1, which Mr Redmayne attended, wearing a steel and leather Globemaster Annual Calendar. At the event, guests marveled at the extraordinary anti-magnetic properties of the watch, which truly ushers in a new era for the Swiss haute horologer.
