French beauty brand Officine Universelle Buly has opened a new concept store in the heart of Kobe, Japan.
April 27, 2023: Combining delicious fragrances with food, Officine Universelle Buly has opened a new boutique in the shopping streets of Matomachi, with a café ensconced right next to it. The dedicated trend of introducing an independent store with a café is not new for the brand, however it is the first for Japan.
Both stores have been designed by founder and creative director Ramdane Touhami. For the design concept, Mr. Touhami incorporated elements of the regional decor of the city and featured a fusion of his imagination and Japanese references.
The entire store is decorated with Dali-inspired melting lamps, and paintings, shellac, and decorative paint streaks created by a Japanese ornamental painter. Lavishly decorated with walnut, oak, and elm and lacquered cabinets and marble that look like sliced Kobe beef (a specialty of the Hyogo prefecture where Kobe is), the space takes visitors on a sensorial experience. The sumptuous Japanese decor with shades of eclectic architecture is complimented with imperial green patinas of the facade adorned with a contrasting marbled frieze.
The boutique houses an array of diverse skin and body care, fragrance, and grooming products that remain true to ancient recipes, while the cafe, enveloped with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee, serves French pastries to go with it.
