Officine Panerai celebrates the Chinese New Year with a special watch
February 12, 2016: To mark the onset of the Chinese Year of the Monkey, Italian fine watchmaker, Officine Panerai, has released its limited novelty Luminor 1950 Sealand 3 Days Automatic Acciaio – 44mm.
Made in only 99 units, the special watch line is the latest edition to Panerai’s exclusive series, started in 2009 to celebrate the signs of the Chinese Zodiac. The new Luminor 1950 Sealand features a remarkably detailed gold engraving of a monkey circled by tiny flower blossoms, gracing the watches’ steel cover.
A tribute to the ancient Chinese astrological tradition, the sophisticated image shields a minimalist grey dial with a small seconds counter at 9 o’clock and a date window at 3 o’clock. The timepieces boast a Panerai in-house automatic caliber, with a power reserve of three days as well as an oscillating weight, with two-directional rotation.
Water-resistant to a depth of about 100 meters and secured on soft brown leather strap, Luminor 1950 Sealand 3 Day Automatic Acciaio – 44 mm is exclusively available in Panerai’s boutiques around the world.
