Michael Kors presents Resort 2020 collection
June 18, 2019: The American luxury clothing brand, Michael Kors, recently showcased its Resort 2020 collection at Academy Mansion in New York. The collection was a take of the brand on silhouettes and structures to emphasise femininity and power.
With a strong focus on tailoring, using elegant men’s wear fabrics like glen plaids and checks yet incorporating feminine tropes in peplums and ruffles, adding flourish to shoulders and the closures of coats and jackets.
To blur out the line between masculine and feminine, Mr. Kors used punk embellishments with prim polka-dots, added ruffle trims to otherwise strictly cut jackets and coats, creating a bridge between different eras: Shoulders conjured the can-do 1940s, and sequins brought to mind the disco slink of the ’70s, which were also a reference for his lively Fall outing.
This was a demonstrative collection, all the way down to the collectible studded Aran sweaters.
