Michael Kors presents Africa-inspired Summer 2012 collection

September 2011: The savage, wild and raw side of Africa couldn’t have been captured better than Michael Kors. Depicting memories of Africa and the rustic modernism of the Lebombo Lodge, the collection exudes an easy laid back attitude with soft djellabas and caftans, languid ponchos and capes, the slouchy wind coat and relaxed sarongs. Made with artisanal textures, the raw beauty is represented with distressed cashmere, linen, and leather with a luxe savage edge. Rustic patchworks and bold hand dying add to the authenticity of the inspiration.

The colour palette includes earthy tones of limestone, olive and clay; creamy tones of ivory, impala and antelope; and warm sunset shades of amber, sienna and cinnabar. Graphic photo realistic animal prints take you back to Africa the minute youyou’re your eyes on this collection. Rugged boots and sandals, oversized travel bags and strappy belts conclude the ‘Afriluxe’ mood.
