Mercedes-Benz India introduces the E-Class Cabriolet in India
2010: Mercedes-Benz India announced the launch of the E-Class Cabriolet in India. The highly stylized Cabriolet has a retractable soft top roof and offers comfortable seating for four people.
Dr. Wilfried Aulbur, Managing Director, Mercedes-Benz India Pvt. Ltd, said, “The E-Class Cabriolet heralds a new era of Open top motoring. The E-Class now offers the Cabriolet in addition to already present the E-Class Saloon and the E-Class Coupe. The E-Class has seven offerings for the discerning customers who seek individuality, expression and dynamism through the cars they drive.”
The E-Class is the most-sold model in India from the Mercedes-Benz stable. Till date the E-Class has sold over 12,700 units with 1268 vehicles being sold between January to July 2010. Though E-Class looks like the market leader for the near future, Dr Aulbur says that C-Class is not far behind as well.
The E-Class Cabriolet, which makes an impressive “lifestyle statement” in the words of Dr Aulbur, promises an engaging driving experience with the top on or off. The premiere feature in this car is the Aircap, an automatic wind deflector, which significantly reduces turbulence in the vehicle’s interior at the touch of a button.
The sound-dampening soft top comes with extremely high-quality insulation. Thus, the closed Cabriolet offers a quiet interior. Like all E-Class models, the Cabriolet also offers an outstanding level of safety with standard equipment that includes the Attention Assist drowsiness detection system, Pre-Safe predictive occupant protection and the intelligent light system among others. The E 350 Cabriolet sports a 3.5 litre engine delivering a powerful output of 272 hp and a torque of 355 Nm for sheer driving pleasure.
