The machine with feminine contours and face offers 100 hours of power reserve

December 10, 2020 : MB&F has launched the sixth edition of the Legacy Machine FlyingT dedicated to women embodying elegance and vitality. This LM FLYINGT Lapis Lazuli limited edition watch features a dial plate and subdial in the deep blue gemstone, in an 18k white gold case set with diamonds.

This is the first of a series of gemstone editions, while Lapis Lazuli was the obvious choice because of its intense deep blue colour enhanced by the gold flecks (which are actually Pyrite). Prized since antiquity for its intense colour, Lapis Lazuli has been mined as far back as 7000 BC and is found in many artifacts from civilisations across the world. During the Renaissance, it was ground into powder and made into ultramarine, the finest and most expensive of all blue pigments.

The soaring vertical structure of the FlyingT movement is topped by a 60-second flying tourbillon. The sun-shaped winding rotor ensures the automatic movement is fully wound, offering 100 hours of power reserve. The time is displayed thanks to delicate serpentine hands on a tilted subdial placed at 7 o’clock, visible only to the wearer of the watch; an unconventional layout underlining the intimate, personal nature of the LM FlyingT.

The design of Legacy Machine FlyingT is replete with associations drawn from the feminine and maternal influences in Maximilian Büsser’s life. Says Büsser, “I wanted LM FlyingT to possess the epitome of femininity as reflected by the women in my life, particularly my mother. It had to combine supreme elegance with tremendous vitality. The column-like structure of the flying tourbillon was very important to me as I felt very strongly that women form the pillar of humanity. At the same time, there is another layer of meaning coming in from the sun-shaped rotor, which incorporates the element of life-giving, a source of sustenance which we gravitate towards and around.”

For Mr. Büsser, elegance was key, but so was an infectious energy that could captivate an entire roomful of people.
The LM FlyingT Lapis Lazuli costs CHF 125,000 (USD 138,000 / EUR 118,000).
