Eye shadows are a complicated business. MAC makes it worth the effort with its new winter-y shade, which surprisingly, works very well in summer too!

With the summer hitting high upon us, the need for minimal make up with impactful effects is priority. Having found an eye shadow from the house of MAC, my eyes can finally look defined with just a dash of product. MAC has released five new Mineralize Eye Shadows with the Apres Chic collection. Though they all have a winter theme and vary in colour to suit a variety of skin tones, they actually work best in this scorching summer heat. Sparkly, classy and yet personify minimalism.
The Mineralize Eye Shadow, called Winter Pursuit, can be a hit or miss, depending on application and need of the occasion of course. But it will come to your rescue when you cannot decide how to add a subtle, yet glamourous dash to your appearance. Winter Pursuit has a copper base with grey veining, and while being quite metallic than the other Mineralize Eye Shadows in this collection, it is a warm-toned, medium rust/copper colour with a metallic, goldeny sheen to it. Wait, there’s more. They grey veining tones down the warmth of the bright copper colour, but the grey/silver tones aren’t very noticeable once applied, unless scrutinized closely from specific angles. Summary? A perfect shade to match the Indian skin tone and complement always every outfit!
Slightly disappointing is the fact that this shadow comes in a standard MAC packaging, though a little larger than normal eye shadows. All in all - a rich, chocolate brown shadow that can be applied both when wet (with a damp brush) or even applied dry. It blends perfectly through the crease without becoming uneven or losing its colour. You can layer on for more intensity. Simply use a MAC 239 brush and sweep them across the eyelid for that almost instantaneous transformation! You can even use a thin flat brush and line the under eye portion for a slightly more night and formal look. I would recommend using it dry as it gives a nice soft look minus a frost. A personal opinion – don’t use it wet perhaps because the shimmery elements in this are quite dominating and tend to bunch up when dampened and can appear patchy or chunky. But then again, be careful when you apply this product dry (has a slightly rough texture) as the chances of a fallout or a crumble down on your cheeks is quite high (keep a sponge under your eye).
However, the intense colour just makes the hassle worth it. Spritz on some Fix + spray by MAC and you will be good to go. A quick tip, don’t wet out the full product otherwise you will not be able to achieve that ‘combination’ effect (dry on the outer area of the lid and wet towards the inside). Compliment this shade with a black or grey eye liner to add a little definition to your eyes or simply spruce up your lashes with some voluminizing mascara to add the finishing touch.
The lasting power of this Mineralize Eye Shadow is quite good, taking you through 6-7 hours at an average, before it may begin to wave farewell to you. It is a good product that is quite useable and will last you for quite some time.
