Taking inspiration from the very entertaining and stylish characters of the much-beloved Archie's comic, MAC has bought out their personalities very well in this new collection!

Remember the days when you just couldn't get your hands off an Archie’s comic and the battle between your inner divas picking between Veronica's bold style and Betty's feminine charm? MAC has brought the famed trio to life with their latest collection titled "Archie’s Girls".
Time to pop!
Acknowledging the weak spot I have for Betty and her oh-so-feminine appeal, I fell for the "Betty Bright" lipstick at first sight. The packaging will excite the little girls in all of us. It strays away from the grey-ish classy packing to a white one that screams 'girl' and 'adorably cute' on all notes. The graphic of Betty being her usual self steals the show and everything else just falls into place. Like Betty's personality, this shade is a fun, summery bright shade that is a pink - coral (not so much a vibrant peach as they call it - much darker in fact) adding the sober element in your outwardly approach this summer season.
A creamy and satiny finish, this one is a no no when it comes to pressing your lips together. I wouldn't recommend this shade as is on the Indian skin tone without a more neutral shade to balance it. I would suggest adding a dab of MAC Jubilee or MAC Angel to give this new entrant a more 'Indian friendly' appearance.(tends to look a little neon otherwise - but hey, neon is in!). A close cousin of MAC Costa Chic, one may prefer Betty Bright over the former because it is less shiny and spreads more easily. A quick tip: don't apply too much, otherwise you will feel your lips 'slipping' if you know what I mean. Try to use a lip primer to even out your lips so the shade looks more 'fuller' on you. Those looking for a darker and, umm, brighter (even louder) shade, can opt for Vegas Volt. But if you can carry it off, there is no stopping you!
This product lasted me for about two and a half hours, but left a pretty pink stain on the lips for a while after. Try not to play up the rest of the face too much with this shade, maybe just some kohl and mascara, and in my opinion, you are set to make heads turn! Keep in mind it’s a limited edition. So be quick on your toes!
Eye glamour
Veronica fans can rejoice as the limited edition MAC Archie’s Girls collection has defined the bold diva with glamour to say the least. Starting with the eyes, you are one step away from donning the fashionista’s looks. With eye pencils in four shades (as a permanent version but the cute white packaging is special only to the new collection), what better way to welcome the summer with eyes that 'pop with colour'?
Again, the packaging is a winner with its white and red hearts, which will melt your heart. A regular pencil (requires sharpening - yes we can live with it), it is handy and will spruce up your mundane day at work or glam up your night in a matter of seconds! Being a big fan of the royal colour, the Pearlglide Intense Eye Liner in designer purple (part of the Veronica side of the Archie's Girls Collection) is an iridescent violet-blue with purple and silver shimmer. Intense with a deep colour and quick application, this pencil is a definite keeper! The creamy texture applies complete colour on the first pass and a quick second or third pass will add super drama to eyes (not that it’s necessary). The texture is so soft and creamy that it glides effortlessly across the lash line without too much worry (avoid too much - one line is more than enough, otherwise it looks built up). The texture of these eyeliners is incredibly soft, so you need to be quite gentle when you are applying them, or the tip of the eyeliner might break or even awkwardly settle on your lid.
The colour lasted me the entire day (about 8 hours) without any fading. In case you want to smudge it, be sure to do it as soon as you apply, otherwise once it sets, only the glitter will move about (which doesn’t look bad too, but may trouble the eye). The only drawback is the glitter that may fall into the eyes which spreads a lot when cleaning up. I had purple glitter around my eyes after cleaning it twice. Besides this, a fabulous eye pencil that has a lot of use in these summer days. We can all use some sparkle, can't we?
Adding more drama to your eyes, MAC’s Spoiled Rich Eyeshadow Palette from the Archie’s Girls collection does quite please. But those who prefer muted eyes - stay away from this one. Otherwise, it is a definite winner with four shades that will transform you into a bold diva set to glam up any party. Consider Pin-Up Purple (mid-tone orchid), Spoiled Rich (rich purple), Ron Ron Run (deep navy), and Gravel (charcoal). The colours are all quite pigmented, and for anyone looking for a no fuss-friendly palette and loves a good purple smokey eye, this palette might seem to be a love at first sight case.
Like everything else in the collection, the packaging is the adorable white with the trio smiling at you. It has a mirror inside that is long and you can see both the eyes at once. The shades, of course, are mostly purplish with the exception of a charcoal shade. Pin-Up Purple is a pink lavender shade with a barely-there sheen. It is supposed to be a frost finish, but according to me, it’s chalky and dry and appears matte. Spoiled Rich is a darkened, medium purple with red undertones and a dusting of a subtle copper shimmer (don't be surprised if it won’t show up on your lid). Again. looks very, very matte on the lid. These shades are not meant to be rubbed too much as it doesn’t take a lot for these shades to become sheer and sort of vanish into the creases. But yet again, work with a sturdy eye shadow brush or even better, your finger tips, and pat gently on your eye lids with an eye primer to hold it in place.
Ron Ron Run is a darkened navy blue with a dusting of navy blue micro-shimmer and a purple edge (my favorite shade amongst all - giving a classy but feminine look). Gravel is a darkened gray with a matte finish. You will probably use it to just contour your eyes at the corner and to finish off the smoky look. Keep in mind that these shades do become a little powdery and may not blend as easily as other MAC eye shadows, so add a drop of oil on your eye lid to make it an easier process (shh, it’s a tip).Work with all four shades and finish with a black kohl pencil.
Of course, you need to go easy with the rest of your face when using this palette - nude lips and a very light blush. Go all out with some black mascara and you are guaranteed to feel like a diva - oozing confidence and style. Perfectly in step with Veronica's image, this purple palette personifies royalty rock.
Face the world
Coming to the face powder part of the Archie’s Girls collection by MAC, Veronica’s Blush Pearlmatte Face Powder is described as a “silvery pink base with deep pink hearts.” Beware, this product is too adorable to handle and the little pink hearts just, well, steal your heart away. The base colour is a (very) pale pink with a subtle silver sheen. The hearts are a darker pink with a just flush kind of sheen. If applied together, prep yourself for a soft, pale pink with a silver shimmer-sheen finish.
The packaging sticks to the white limited edition design and has the trio's faces on the cover. Open up and smile into a compact mirror with hearts, hearts and more hearts on the product! I am not 100 per cent sure if the hearts run all the way through the powder or are just on the top layer but I am hoping it’s the former, because swirled together, these create an absolutely gorgeous pink shade that looks good on the skin. Best used as a highlighter over your blush, make sure that you understand this product well before you purchase it. The saleswoman at the MAC store didn't know how to use the product either until she was shown an image of it because the store hasn’t received this shipment yet.
Perfect to give your skin that light glow that will work well in these summers (of course, if you are on the darker side, then it will show up ashy and silver, so this is strictly for fair tones only). Quite buildable, don’t be surprised if you dive into the beautiful pan about four times before you see something show up on your cheeks. The finish is pearly and powdery but won’t emphasize pores, so it’s definitely a keeper! I would recommend using it with MAC's well dressed or posey.
So go ahead, use it as a highlighter, blush or under the brow to add that casual yet flirty look. I would recommend mixing the full product together instead of singling them out (the dark pink hearts have a low pigment so they just give a flush of colour and the base powder shows off just subtle pearly silver). It lasts for about 4-5 hours before it starts fading off. So just pick up a brush, mix and get set to be a radiant Veronica!
Setting off a fun mood with its packing, the MAC Archie’s Girls collection ensures the glamour inherent to Veronica and the subtlety defined by Betty. So pick it up and strut confidently towards your Archie!
