Add colour onto your sweetheart’s cheeks with a variety of gifts that spell ‘love’ like nothing else.

Ever wondered why everything associated with the most powerful feelings is symbolized by the colour red? Red is often associated with lust, passion, beauty, love and even anger! Simply put, red is a colour that symbolizes Cupid as well as the Devil. Add a little white to this dynamic color, and you’ve got yourself a tickled pink - the colour of universal love. This February, love is in the air as brands all over the world pick up on the romance radar and incorporate the colours of ‘love’ and the theme of romance in everything they do – in the smallest and biggest of ways!

According to Alok Aggarwal, owner of Cibo and Veda, New Delhi, “Red is the colour of life and blood and is a very fiery, forceful and determined colour”.  Nothing says “I love you” better than a red flower, a red heart shaped chocolate box or any other romantic gift that fancies your romantic thoughts! Aggarwal adds, “Red can be used throughout the year, not necessarily during V Day, but yes, during the month of February, brands tend to use this colour in a variety of forms as it induces the feeling of romance in the consumer”.

Red seems to hold a special place for Gaurav Bhatia, Marketing Director at Moët Hennessy India and a luxury expert. He feels that romance deserves a unique celebration and a personal expression. “At Moët & Chandon, it is the Rosé Impérial which is the quintessence of all things romantic and glamorous. It is undoubtedly the most extroverted and seductive expression of the world’s oldest luxury brand,” he said.

Every year, Moët & Chandon Rosé Impérial offers a unique innovation to bring inValentine’s Day. They are objets d’art with tactile experiences that add to the joy of sharing Moët & Chandon with that special someone. This time, Moët & Chandon offers a limited-edition ‘Tag Your Moët Rosé’ Coffret where the message is in the bottle and on the bottle! The coffret includes a bottle of pink-clad bottle of Moët Rosé, two special-edition flutes and a gold marker with which you can inscribe your very own message for your loved one. Says Bhatia, “I always recommend keeping a chilled bottle of the Moët Rosé at home – it is the perfect way to turn on the romance!”

Language of love
Cibo and Moët & Chandon are not the only ones who have used red and hearts to woo the consumers. Many luxury brands jump into the bandwagon to impress the consumer and make their heart sway.

Piaget has launched a special collection for Valentine’s Day called Possession - A Piaget Declaration of Love. Watch as your fair maiden holds her breath. Piaget’s latest collection consists of a variety of great gifting options this Valentine’s Day! Consider the 18-carat pink gold watch case set with diamonds or even the 18-carat pink gold pendant engraved on one side with the word ‘Possession’ and set with one brilliant-cut diamond.

Chopard seems delighted to act as a messenger of love with not just one, but several jewellery boxes up its sleeve. They have introduced an exquisite candy-coloured pen with a sparkling moving heart perched at the very top of the cap. They also launched a variety of rings, pendants and earrings that highlight a heart with a distinctive cone-shaped curve!

Luxury watch and jewellery maker, de Grisogono, which is well-known for its innovative and exotic deisgns, is all set to induce shoppers to pamper their sweethearts on V day. Rings in white gold with rubies and diamonds, necklace in pink gold with white diamonds and red sapphires, satiny pink gold earrings with orange sapphires and white diamonds, watches with red Galuchat strap or alligator strap… Phew! The collection is an embodiment of priceless and innovative pieces.

Swarovski crystals are also an ideal gifting option. Their Valentine’s Day collection centers on symbols of love, interpreted in many different and enchanting ways. Pick between an adorable heart-shaped pendant in vibrant colors like faceted fuchsia, rosaline, lilac or provence lavender crystal, on a rhodium-plated metal chain. They also have a mirror key ring in red Alcantara studded with Light Siam crystals and a red vinyl trim.

Everyone knows it’s tough to shop for men. And if you want to gift him something in the ideal red colour, then lord save you! Men are usually not very keen on sporting this colour (unless it’s a devilish red car!) But a traditionally black and red bottle of Vat 69 should do the trick. According to a source at the brand, surveys suggest that alcohol is now leading the gifting trend. So break out of the age old traditional gifting options and surprise that special someone by gifting him the iconic dark green sherry shaped bottle of VAT 69!

Aptly romantic, luxury brands today are speaking the language of love in all ways possible. Are you picking up the love signals yet?
