London art seller Christie's to auction Joan Rivers' private collection
May 24, 2016: Christie’s has confirmed that an assortment of Joan Rivers’ personal pieces from her Manhattan Penthouse are to be auctioned, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting both God’s Love We Deliver and Guide Dogs For The Blind charity organizations.
The auction, set for June 22 in New York, will include decorative arts, paintings, French furniture and Fabergé from the American entertainer’s home. In addition, costumes made by Bob Mackie, couture and personal jewelry by designers such as Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels and Harry Winston, will also be sold in an online auction held June 16 – 23. The collection will go on view and is free and open to the public starting June 17 and will continue until June 21.
With more than 200 lots offered in the live sale on June 22 and 80 lots in the online sale, estimated prices range from $500 up to $200,000. Among the personal objects available for auction are an Edouard Vuillard painting, Dans L'Atelier, (estimate: $120,000-180,000), an assorted group of Joan Rivers’ table linens (estimate: $500-800), and a sapphire and diamond brooch (estimate: $10,000-15,000).
