Kross Studio’s 10-piece collector set features a tourbillon watch and a basketball sculpture that blends performance technique and Looney Tunes with elegance
July 15, 2021: The upcoming animated/live-action Space Jam: A New Legacy film is the centerpiece of the latest partnership between Warner Bros. Consumer Products and Kross Studio. Kross Studio devised a high-end smart wristwatch and a functional artwork to commemorate the occasion, combining four intriguing worlds: basketball, horology, art and Looney Tunes.
The watch, with 3 Hz caliber KS 7'000, represents Kross Studio’s efficiency, showcasing their supremacy as a premier design and watch company. In the middle of the mechanism is a manual hand-wound movement with an enlarged barrel capable of delivering a 5-day power reserve. Leaving no room for the regulator, it is hence placed in a tourbillon cage above the barrel in the center. The core tourbillon cage is surrounded by an open-work basketball-like framework that displays the regulator underneath, towering over the piece. Each of the watch's 281 components are handcrafted to provide the utmost fine-tuned finish.
The Tunes Squad enters the stage engraved on the fixed hour wheel, where each character of the “Dream Team” appears ready for action, from Bugs Bunny, Lola Bunny, Daffy Duck, and Tweety to Sylvester, Marvin the Martian, Yosemite Sam, Granny, Taz, Speedy Gonzales, Elmer Fudd to Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner.
The watch comes with two straps: one in deep blue calfskin leather and the other in laser abraded rubber, which is colored and textured to seem like the renowned basketball orange. The Space Jam Tourbillon watch features an easily replaceable strap system that enables for quick and easy strap adjustments with a single click of the quick-release buttons on the underneath.
The watch is accompanied by the Kross Studio B-BALL, a design object that serves as a valuable art piece. Each watch comes with an owner's book, a certificate of authenticity, and art handling gloves, all wrapped in a customized wood box.
Kross Studio, encouraged by the Tune Squad, aspires to aim higher and play the game in its own unique way. Every aspect of these Collector Sets showcases the design studio's performance and technical proficiency, paired with the whimsical nostalgia of Looney Tunes icons. Launched in time with the release of the film on July 16, 2021, the collector set is a colorful, pulsating take on a game that has global fandom.
