IWC reveals special edition watch to celebrate 50th anniversary of Mercedes-AMG

IWC Ingenieur Chronograph for Mercedes AMGJune 1, 2017: IWC Schaffhausen, a luxury watch brand, is celebrating the 50th anniversary of Mercedes-AMG, with a special limited edition watch from the Ingenieur family.

Hans Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher founded AMG in 1967, which has gained reputation for its excellent performance as the sports car brand of Mercedes-Benz. Its partnership with IWC, since 2004, has introduced mechanical watches as part of their brand, as well. Their independently developed sports cars and watches combine precision engineering with exclusive design to the highest level.

The Ingenieur Chronograph Sport Edition “50th Anniversary of Mercedes-AMG” watch was launched at the 24-hour race on the Nürburgring track. Mercedes-Benz also unveiled the Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition to celebrate their anniversary, limited to only five cars. Each buyer of the car received the special edition watch.

With only 250 watches available, the timepiece features a soft-iron cage for protection and sapphire-glass back. It has a sturdy titanium case, silver-plated dial, black hands and a black calfskin strap. Mechanical chronograph movement is another feature, along with a flyback function, and stopwatch function with hours, minutes and seconds.

“A TRIBUTE TO ONE MAN, ONE ENGINE” is engraved to serve as a reminder that the performance components from Mercedes-AMG are assembled from the bottom up by a single mechanic.
