With American director and photographer Harmony Korine standing behind the lens, Gucci’s Pre-Fall 2019 collection was shot in the two legendary cities situates south of Italy, giving the animated collection a more grounded, traditional feel.

A reason to shoot in such unexpected locations is that Gucci intends to preserve and promote these two ancient Roman cities, reviving their memory for the new generations and an increasingly interactive, digital audience.

The collection itself, comprised of 80 looks, includes exotic kaftans and printed suits in which blazers are worn over elongated tunics. Sharp-shouldered and slim-fitted, this collection is quite a deviation from the current trend of oversized silhouettes. The evening offering is shining and starry with the use of velvet and sequins. Cyan, turquoise, red, burnt orange, verdant green – all varieties of colours and shades make an appearance with black and white.
