Gucci presents its Cruise 2019 collection with gothic references

June 1, 2018: Luxury brand Gucci showcased the Cruise Collection 2019 runway show by creative director Alessandro Michele in the Provencal city of Arles where Alyscamps, a Roman burial ground from the 4th century, was turned into a Christian cemetery.

Presenting a darker side of fashion, the collection inspired by death rituals and rock ‘n’ roll comprised of 114 looks, including pieces such as an ornate velvet cape, neon lace tights, goth accents and prints.

Standout pieces within the collection were a white, high-collared Victorian gown and gothic cross and an ossuary-inspired detailing to a rib cage-embroidered dress. The Cruise Collection 2019 runway show is a precursor to the highly anticipated September show.
