Alessandro Michele takes the majestic lion head motif to a higher level in the house’s newest fine jewelry collection
July 29, 2020: It was during Gucci’s Autumn Winter 2015-16 Men’s Runway Show that the Lion Head Ring made its stellar debut - an accessory that is sported often by the brand’s creative director. The king of the jungle is emblematic of strength, courage, power, wisdom and nobility - values that Gucci has resonated itself with. With its first post COVID-19 fine jewelry collection, it epitomizes the symbolism.
The lion head being the central motif, the collection comprises of earrings, pendant necklaces, rings and bracelet sets. Cast in 18 carat white and yellow gold, the jewelry pieces have diamonds for the magnificent creature’s eyes and the colored gemstones are clasped in between its teeth.
The collection is an extension of Gucci’s long-standing affinity for lions after it joined The Lion’s Share Fund, an initiative led by the United Nations Development Programme for dealing with environmental crisis, in February 2020.
