DIY Corner at Gucci store for Dionysus handbagMay 31, 2016: Italian fashion company, Gucci, has introduced a new element to its line of Dionysus handbags. Gucci DIY, short for Do It Yourself,  is a new service that has launched in Milan at the Gucci flagship store, and will be rolled-out globally. The Gucci DIY service will be extended to Gucci's Ace sneakers and Princetown shoes as well as men's and women's ready to wear pieces and Gucci's men's made to order program later on.

The Dionysus DIY service allows Gucci customers the opportunity to add embroideries, trims, hardware and monogrammed initials. Customization can be applied to both large and medium sized bags. The choice of embroideries includes animals and plants such as butterflies, lizards, bees, dragonflies, snakes, roses and peonies. The selections of trim are in crocodile, python and suede. Monogrammed letters are also available and can be embellished with Swarovski crystals in the customer’s choice of colors.

The Dionysus Top Handle bag has a bamboo handle which cannot be modified. But beyond this, the DIY service allows for variations of color, as well as material and details for both large and medium sized bags. For plain models, the customer has a choice of four leathers – crocodile, ostrich, python and ‘moon’ leather – and the color palette includes 18 shades. There is also a striped model available in ‘moon’ leather and crocodile, with a choice of 12 colors for the stripes. A cotton lining is offered in four different colors, while the hardware comes in different finishes. Initials can be embossed for personalization, and the shoulder strap is available in different variations of the House Web stripe which comes in patterns of blue-red-blue and green-red-green.
