Gucci presents Women's Autumn Winter 2012-13 collection
February 23, 2012: Taking some cues from its 2011 Autumn-Winter collection. Gucci once again presented an opulent collection which was made sensuous with delicate transparencies. "This is modern-day romanticism," explains Creative Director Frida Giannini, "A dramatic sensuality, a dark glamour. With subtle games of provocative intellect."
The silhouette signified fearless femininity and dandy indulgence. Long, dreamy dresses, short harness jackets and equestrian-style pants set the tone. Shaded black, forest green and plum contrasted with each other. Uniform-inspired dress coats and soft velvet skirts were also a part of the collection. Exotic animal prints, dark feathers and leather capes accentuated the silhouettes.
Long dresses have double layers of wrinkled tulle, embroidered with floral patterns of micro crystals and sequins masterfully sewn by hand. Three-dimensional flowers have been worked onto the body for new Pre-Raphaelite goddesses.
Materials used include brocades, leather, velvet and silk. Fur works wonders for a lean, masculine effect.
