The remarkable liquid is matured in a combination of American and European oak casks for 21 years and finished for four months in bourbon barrels seasoned with Glenfiddich’s Caribbean rum, imbuing the whisky with extra exotic notes.
December 13, 2022: Glenfiddich, a much awarded single-malt whisky, released its 21-year-old expression in India. The 21-Year-Old is the only Glenfiddich single malt to undergo its unique finishing in Gran Reserva casks that once contained premium Caribbean rum, specially imported to The Glenfiddich Distillery. The rum is blended to the Speyside distiller’s secret recipe from several tropical Caribbean islands to awaken distinctive notes of ginger, lime and banana within the rich smoothness of the patiently mellowed 21-Year-Old.
Angad Singh Gandhi, Glenfiddich India Brand Ambassador, said, “This expression is aged in the Glenfiddich warehouses for 21 years, giving it a flavour that is incredibly potent. In its final few months of ageing, the liquid gains further complexity. The whisky’s robust, spicy warmth is roused by the Caribbean rum finish, which brings out subtle yet lively fruity aromas on the palate. The rum finish gives the liquid extra layers of intensity and an extraordinary twist, distinguishing it from other
whiskies.”
The packaging continues to reflect the rich heritage of the William Grant & Sons family with a refreshing Caribbean flavour. The Glenfiddich 21-Year-Old is encased in a deep orange presentation box with references to the warm and mellow depths of flavour resulting from 21 years of maturation in oak casks. The box has been enhanced with premium detailing, including gold foiling and a charcoal interior. An ornate and decorative texture has been created using innovative finishing techniques rather than traditional printing.
The Glenfiddich 21-Year-Old liquid is presented in a classic glass bottle with a paired-back logo embossed in gold to allow the warmth of the liquid to shine through. The elegant bottle is topped with a rum cask band, showcasing Gran Reserva’s rum cask finish to this classically Scottish liquid.
