Exhibition on Andy Warhol to open at Whitney in November
June 24, 2018: Beginning November 12, 2018 till March 31, 2019, the new Whitney’s location will be opening the largest monographic exhibition to date, containing 350 works of art from America’s most recognizable artist, Andy Warhol. Being the first retrospective organized in the U.S. since 1989, the exhibit will feature a 21st century side to Andy Warhol by showcasing the breadth, depth, and interconnectedness between all his artistic mediums used in the span of his life.
Works will include his beginnings as a commercial illustrator, his iconic pop masterpieces, his experimental work with films, and his innovations in abstraction and painterly sublime. This exhibition will bring you close to the complexities of Warhol’s art and its’ anticipations with the effects of the current digital age.
An exhibition curated by Donna de Salvo, Deputy Director for International Initiatives and Senior Curator, with Christie Mitchell, curatorial assistant, and Mark Loiacono, curatorial research associate, this is sure to be the most interesting art collection of the year bringing curiosity, creativity and transformation.
Tickets will be available at the website for the Whitney Museum of American Art, located in New York, in August.
