Estee Lauder sure knows how to make their women feel like royalty, and now with their new Pure Color Velvet Lipstick in Violet Crush, there's nothing standing in your way to being titled 'Drama Queen of the Year'. A plush shade of violet in a matte finish, this non-drying, ultra creamy lipstick creates a bold statement in a highly pigmented shade, which adds a pop of colour and, of course, drama to your persona.
For those who will have it, Estée Lauder's Pure Color Violet Underground collection is a multi-dimensional, limited edition trend collection for 2013. Inspired by multiple cultures, styles and textures, this collection is the ultimate fusion of high style and street chic. The makeup in Pure Color Violet Underground takes glam rock to a new dimension with a fantastical aesthetic revolution of deep, vibrant violet and fuchsia tones. But keep in mind, this collection is not for the weak-hearted and those who shy away from the camera, as envious glances coming your way is sort of part of the Estee Lauder package. For those who prefer milder colours, but are open to experimenting (or simply love the purple hue), go ahead and mix it up with a nude or beige shade to tone it down a notch (like MAC's Jubilee or Angel).
If you judge a book by its cover, then the packaging of this product is enough intimation of the drama that is to come your way. The shade slyly peeks out at you through a transparent base under a tall crown of gold (again, very dramatic and royal looking) and as you undo the cover, the whiff of the familiar Estee Lauder smell will greet you. Like me, I am sure that you will take a moment to admire the beautiful berry-plum shade of pink, which can only signify one thing - an equation of feminine power.
Quite easy to apply, the colour spreads evenly and your lips will fall in love with the creamy and even texture that this lipstick offers. Build up the intensity for a more flattering shade or slide on a little for that subtle look. The finish is matte with a slight sheen, adding that very diva pout, and wont fade off easily leaving a slight stain even after a couple of hours. So make sure you carry it around with you for touch ups, or maybe not. All I can advise is, it may not be an easy colour to pull off with our Indian tones, but if you can, just hold your head up high and let the confidence ooze from you! I would recommend a primer or a balm underneath just to add to the smooth blanket of colour, but you can spritz on some transparent gloss too, just in the middle of your lips and pucker up!
So go ahead and watch as this strong pigment collides against your beautiful skin to give you an overall look that is modern yet dramatically high-fashioned. A must try for today's new age woman.
