Inspired by the Tie-Dye textile process, Victoire De Castellane designs a stellar and colorful new jewelry collection
August 10, 2020: The stunning new jewelry collection by Dior adds a resplendent dash of colors to the already rich repertoire of the house’s Haute Joaillerie. Victoire de Castellane, the creative director for the brand’s fine jewelry, drew her inspiration from the tie-dye technique. Titled ‘Tie & DIOR’, the assortment of earrings, bracelets, necklaces, rings and brooches is a polychromatic mélange of diamonds, pearls and gemstones.
To reflect the exuberance of the multicolored tie-dye clothes, the collection uses different gemstones like tsavorite garnets, emeralds, rubies as well as sapphires in pink and blue. De Castellane’s signature mismatched earrings also make an appearance, however, it would be one of the first times in two decades with Dior that she has extensively used pearls in her designs. The dyed pearls in pinks, greens and yellows guide the flow of colors while the diamonds provide the contrast to the bright hues in the jewelry pieces.
The collection was launched at an exclusive private dinner at the Amanyangyun Resort, outside of Shanghai city. The setting of a magical garden was absolutely befitting to the theme of the dreamy fine jewelry. Dressed in gradient silk gowns specially designed for the event by Maria Grazia Chiuri, the female models flaunted the dazzling jewelry suites. Their male counterparts were clad in all-black outfits sporting brooches and rings.
The jewelry collection designed for both men and women, along with the extraordinary launch event, centers around the idea of escapism and experiencing moments of happiness amid these trying times.
