Crabtree & Evelyn introduces the Iris Collection

Crabtree & Evelyn Iris CollectionAugust 25, 2012: Crabtree & Evelyn takes inspiration from its namesake John Evelyn, a 17th century renaissance Englishman, who had a motto of “exploring the world and bringing back the best”. To create Iris, thus, Crabtree & Evelyn took this glorious bloom prized for centuries by royalty from its origination in Florence (Firenze), Italy. A favourite of Renaissance perfumers, they featured it in their elegant creations. First brought to England from Italy in the 1400s, archival history indicates King Edward IV favoured its use to scent his wardrobe.

Crabtree & Evelyn Iris pays homage to this history by working with world-class perfumers who use the classic Iris rhizome - called the orris root - which is aged to perfection and then surrounded it with soft, velvety accords of violet and jasmine. Top notes of natural Italian bergamot and cassis are added to the inviting base notes of exotic sandalwood, sensuous patchouli, fresh vetiver, natural cedarwood, and creamy musk to create a modern, alluring bouquet.

The luxurious body care formulations are crafted with an exclusive blend of beneficial English flower extracts (peony, elderflower and magnolia) that soothe the skin in addition to vitamin-C rich rosehip and evening primrose that nourish and condition the skin, leaving it soft, smooth, and supple. All Iris body care products are free of parabens, phthalates, nitrosamines, propylene glycol and mineral oil.

The Iris collection includes Eau de Toilette, Bath & Shower Gel, Body Lotion, Body Cream, Triple Milled Soap, Home Fragrance Reed Diffuser, Fragranced Candle, Home Fragrance Spray and Scented Drawer Lining Papers.
