Christopher Bailey hosts event to celebrate Burberry in India
2010: Burberry Chief Creative Officer Christopher Bailey hosted an evening event in Mumbai to celebrate the brand’s presence in India. The occasion was the upcoming launch of their 5th store in India at Oberoi Hotel in New Delhi.
Bailey said, “This was my first visit to India. It’s a country that we are so excited about as they have a huge appreciation for luxury and Britishness. So being here, meeting everyone and feeling the energy behind the country was incredible. We had a great night in Mumbai.”
The event on the roof terrace of the Four Seasons Hotel was attended by over 400 guests including Burberry Chief Executive Angela Ahrendts, Sanjay Kapoor, MD Genesis Luxury, Ajay Devgan, Dev Patel, Asin, Preity Zinta, Kangana Ranaut, Dino Morea, Lisa Haydon, Rahul Khanna (all of whom wore Burberry). Other guests included Neha Dhupia, Sushmita Sen, Suzaane Roshan, Sonia Mehra, Natasha Poonawala and Gautam and Nawaz Singhania
The musical event included a live acoustic performance by musicians Amaan and Ayaan Ali Khan and DJ sets by British musician Rory Cottam from band The Cheek and DJ Aqeel.
The fifth Burberry store in India is scheduled to open in December 2010 at the Oberoi Hotel in New Delhi.
