The online charity sale in collaboration with Telegraph’s Stella Magazine will raise funds for UK Charity Organization Smart Works
August 24, 2020: Christie’s is hosting an online charity auction with Telegraph’s Stella Magazine. This fundraising sale for Smart Works, a UK based organization that helps unemployed women by providing job interview training and free clothes, will comprise 33 lots. Each one is an iconic outfit donated by very significant woman that represents a notable memory, an achievement or a moment in their individual fashion journeys.
The 33 high-profile donors include the likes of Victoria Beckham, Kate Moss, Lara Stone and Kylie Minogue to name a few.
The auction features remarkable items like the Jane Birkin's iconic Black Togo Leather Birkin 35 (estimate: £8,000-10,000) and Dame Helena Morrissey's Alexander McQueen gown (estimate: £10,000-15,000), worn to the Soiree d’Or dinner in 2011, and part of the legendary designer’s final 2010 collection.
Other highlights of the sale are two of Victoria Beckham's black bustiers (estimate: £700-1,000); Kate Moss's vintage jumpsuit worn to Moët Impérial's 150th Anniversary at the Château de Saran, France, May 2019 (estimate: £500-800); Dame Twiggy Lawson’s Tommy Nutter suit, 1971 (estimate: £800-1,200), of the same design as she wore on the cover of her debut album; and Ralph & Russo's silver liquid velvet asymmetric dress worn by Kylie Minogue to the Royal Academy Summer Party in 2019 (estimate: £2,000-3,000).
Kate Stephens, the CEO of Smart Works, commented, “Passing on a treasured possession to help another woman succeed is a powerful concept and one we passionately believe in at Smart Works. All proceeds from the incredible pieces in this auction will help give women across the UK the toolkit they need to transform their lives. As we navigate this pandemic, we know more women than ever before will need our support and it’s been wonderful to see our community come together to help us during this time.”
This charity auction is now live here and will close on September 15, 2020.
