The iconic Van Cleef & Arpels ‘Jarretiere’ ruby and diamond bracelet.
Ms. Eisenhower was the granddaughter of General Dwight D. Eisenhower – 34th President of the United States of America, and daughter of John Eisenhower - a US military historian and US diplomat.
Paying homage to her passion and penchant for the art of jewelry design, the auction house will launch a global tour of the collection which will begin in Los Angeles and continue in Paris, Geneva and Hong Kong. The full collection will be auctioned in New York on June 7.
The highlight of the collection is the iconic ‘Jarretiere’ ruby and diamond bracelet, acquired by actress Marlene Dietrich in 1937 from Van Cleef & Arpels. The actress wore the jewel in Alfred Hitchcock’s 1950 murder mystery ‘Stage Fright’, and was later purchased by Ms. Eisenhower in 1992 - making its way from one iconic collection to another. The bracelet is estimated at $2.5-4.5 million.
The sale also includes a rare Art Deco diamond and multi-gem ‘Moonlight Rose’ bracelet, by Tiffany & Co.; an Art Deco diamond bangle bracelet by Cartier; and a 20.54 carat diamond ring which is estimated to fetch $1.2 -1.8 million.
This exceptional sale is certainly not to be missed.
