Complementing each other due to their happy, vivacious energy, the partnership comes with an interesting campaign
April 21, 2021: Watchmaker and jeweler Chopard has paired its popular Happy Sport watch with actress Julia Roberts. The brilliant actress has bewitched audiences world over with her dazzling smile and natural acting instincts. This film legend was welcomed to the Cannes Film Festival in 2016 with a sense of honour and emotion. The first time she strode up the famous steps of the Palais de Festival in Cannes – barefoot and wearing an off-the-shoulder black dress highlighting a Chopard Haute Joaillerie emerald and diamond necklace – has become one of the most memorable red carpet events in recent editions of the Festival. Since then, she has uniquely personified the ultimate free-spirited woman.
It comes with no wonder then that passionate film-lover Caroline Scheufele asked Julia Roberts to embody the face of the Happy Sport woman when launching new versions of the iconic watch. Ms. Scheufele said, “It was her and nobody else! Julia Roberts was the only person I felt could convey the spirit that I see in Happy Sport.”
The new Happy Sport campaign, featuring Ms. Roberts, has been shot under the artistic direction of Xavier Dolan – another Cannes Film Festival renowned director. Known for the intensity with which he conveys his protagonists’ emotions through the camera, The short film shows how Ms. Roberts instinctively related to the Joie de Vivre inherent in Happy Sport watches.
