Chanel styles camellias for its Bijou 2016 eyewear collection
April 7, 2016: Drawing inspiration from the favorite bloom of its founder, the camellia, Chanel unveils its Bijou 2016 eyewear collection.
First presented at the Metiers d’Art Paris 2015/2016 show last December, the designs are Romanesque in style and bursting in character. The four glasses pay respect to Italian glamor with extra-large yet ultra-feminine frames – from cat-eye to maxi-square to retro butterfly. Equally elegant and bold, the two optical options come in either intense black, burgundy and blue or the transparent shades of see green, gray and tortoiseshell.
Rendered in gold, silver as well as ruthenium, majestic camellias grace the temples of the glasses. Some are lacquered to enhance the relief effect while others are manually enameled to match the color of the frames. The ultimate detail, however, remains the double C hallmark.
Chanel’s Bijou 2016 eyewear collection arrives at the brand’s boutiques worldwide from May 2016.
