Burberry presents Spring/Summer 2012 collection
September 2011: British fashion brand Burberry as usual presented a spectacular Spring/Summer 2012 Womenswear show which was aided by a lot of digital innovations. The show was followed by the eager fans of the brand through multiple platforms and experiences.
Burberry partnered with Twitter to create the first ever live ‘tweetwalk’ show where every look was shared from backstage before hitting the runway. The show was live streamed directly via their Facebook page to over 8 million Burberry Facebook fans. Red carpet interviews were showcased on the YouTube homepage. In another first of its kind initiative, images of the show were shared by the most followed Instagram user, British photographer Mike Kus, via the Burberry Instagram account.
Like during the previous shows, the collection was available for purchase immediately and exclusively at burberry.com
Taking forward from its quintessential British spirit, the ramp was flooded with a variety of trench coats with silhouettes ranging from full skirt, brogue leather, embroidered and artisan textured. Viewers applauded parkas which were sculptural oversized, lattice nappa leather sleeved or cropped canopied. The ruched bow dress and soft pleated panel tea dress fascinated the audience.
The collection used a delightful, bright colour palette including pale wheat, barley grey, sisal, asparagus, orange ochre, beetroot, chrome yellow, turmeric, sapphire blue, azure blue, dark peacock, fawn rose, indigo, indigo green, bright gold ochre, gooseberry, light tan, dark tan, chocolate, black, garnet red and dark damson.
Accessories were equally awe-inspiring with the new Whipstitch bag, large tote bags, oversize clutch bags, small clutches and metal framed sling bags. Fashionistas can stand high on woven wedge sandals, woven platform sandals, beaded platform sandals, woven wedge peep toe boots and crochet wedge peep toe pumps. Pompom raffia caps, corset belts, waist belts and hand stitched leather cord sunglasses complete the feminine and ultra-girly look!
