BMW celebrates its centenary with a visionary car

Harald Kruge, Chairman BMW, with the visionary 100 years car

March 8, 2016: Celebrating the past, BMW Group looks ahead. Marking its centenary, the luxury carmaker is already setting up its goals for the next 100 years.

With a clear foresight of coupling premium mobility with automatic self-driving, tailored to individual preferences, BMW is already debuting its vehicle of the future – BMW Vision Next 100. A highly customized automobile, it combines the sportiness of coupes with the elegance of sedans.

BMW Vision Next 100 boasts superb driver-vehicle interaction mechanisms that turn even a short trip into a luxury adventure. Offering two modes – the driver-controlled boost and the vehicle-controlled ease, the visionary car changes its interior to enhance the driving experience.

In a boost setting, the driver receives all the assistance needed – from the ideal driving trajectory to the optimum safety speed. In an easy operation, she gets a chance to relax – the steering wheel and center console retract while the seats turn to the side to form a single, cozy until.

BMW unveiled its first Vision vehicle at the Centenary Event in the Munich Olympic Hall on March 7 – exactly a century after the company was commercially registered. Following the event, Vision Next 100 will embark on a symbolic world tour, with stops in China, the UK and the US.
