Aspri Spirits brings Austrian wine brand Schloss Gobelsburg

December 9, 2011: Aspri Spirits Pvt. Ltd, a leading distributor and importer of fine beverages from across the world, has brought Schloss Gobelsburg to India, a distinguished winery from Austria.

Schloss Gobelsburg is a historic winery that dates back more than 4000 years, was owned by a Cistercian monastery and possessing wonderful old vineyards in the Kamptal region of Austria. At Schloss Gobelsburg, the most important grape varieties are Grüner Veltliner and Riesling. Over the centuries, these varieties have proven to be the most suitable for the surrounding soil structure.

One of the oldest winery in the region, founded in 1171, it since February 1996 that the estate is managed by Eva & Michael Moosbrugger. The Schloss Gobelsburg Winery was accepted as member of the renowned Verein der Österreichischen Traditionsweingüter (Association of Austrian Traditional Wineries) in 1996.

Mr Michael Moosbrugger, CEO and winemaker, Schloss Gobelsburg, said, “Since we Austrians love to have wine at all times and with everything, we like it light and frech. Hence we mostly create white wines using Riesling and Grüner Veltliner. We also have a small amount of CO2 in our wines which help to give it freshness.

The Domaine Gobelsburg, Gruner Veltliner is a white wine almost gold in colour with aromas of spring flowers, apple-cinnamon, sweet grass, apricot and nectarine and elegant, dry and medium bodied with a lovely fruit core.

Schloss Gobelsburg, Zweigelt is a ruby-red wine with an open and uncomplicated taste, strongly highlighted by spicy notes. Schloss Gobelsburg, Riesling, made of Riesling, has a smokey roasted beginning with subtle hints of apricot and Mirabelle plums intertwined with nutty roots. It is a crisp and refreshing wine with a perfectly linear finish.

Schloss Gobelsburg, Gruner Veltliner, has a smokey aroma intertwined with a mixture of garden herbs. It is mid to full-bodied with inklings of yellow fruits.

The new range of of Schloss Gobelsburg wines are available for INR 1400-2000 at select retail outlets across the country.
