Extolling rich Persian art patterns and radiant floral embroidery, Vaishali Agarwal brings its latest collection, ‘Antika’.
May 16, 2023: As spring greets us with the sight and scent of vivid blooms, Indian designer Vaishali Agarwal draws inspiration from Persian art and architecture to present her Spring/Summer collection.
Titled ‘Antika’, the collection featuring intricate embroidery and bright colors that translate the designer’s impression of antiquity and vibrancy. The designs borrow heavily from rich Islamic architecture such as the ‘Muqarnas’ - known as tapered arches - and the bulbous domes with floral decorations, whose detailing can be seen on the kalis on heavy bridal lehengas. Like the scrupulous detailing of the architecture, the designs and embroideries are dynamic and delicate.
Visually striking colors such as gold, red, silver, and brown make up the rich color palette while clean geometrical lines embrace the different floral motifs to give a lavish look to the ensembles.
As the title itself suggests, the revival of something that existed in the more or less distant past, the collection radiates the entrancing allure of bygone Persian art and Indian craftsmanship through detailed motifs and flowy fabrics.
The line up includes a range of lehengas, draped sarees, co-ord sets, short dresses, and more. An exquisite bridal ensemble burst with a rich blend of bright pink and mustard yellow. The blouses have zardosi and the lehengas are adorned with classic appliqué work. A mustard yellow cape suit designed with floral motifs is sure to turn heads in any event.
