Kenneth Branagh’s multi-starrer murder mystery will feature the legendary 128 carat Tiffany Diamond
September 1, 2020: First made famous by Audrey Hepburn and last worn by Lady Gaga, the 128 carat Tiffany Diamond is all set to make a stunning appearance in the upcoming 20th Century Studios thriller movie ‘Death on the Nile’, based on Agatha Christie’s 1937 novel of the same name.
The celebrated Tiffany Diamond is a rare yellow diamond which was uncovered in 1877 from the Kimberley Mines of South Africa. Procured by Charles Lewis Tiffany himself, the rough diamond was cut into a 128.54 carat in Paris. The storied, cushion-shaped jewel, set in a necklace, was worn by Audrey Hepburn for her promotional shots during Breakfast at Tiffany’s and later by Lady Gaga during Oscars 2019. Now, a recreation of this fiery diamond will reappear in the much awaited Death on the Nile. Gal Gadot, playing one of the most significant characters in the movie, can be seen flaunting the dazzling jewel.
“The Tiffany Diamond is a priceless symbol of the highest standards of virtuosity and craftsmanship at Tiffany, and rarely makes an appearance beyond its vault,” said Reed Krakoff, chief artistic officer. “A central role in the adaptation of Agatha Christie’s classic novel is deserving of our priceless diamond.”
A number of other jewelry pieces by Tiffany & Co. will be seen in the film. The luxury jewelry maker will be promoting the movie online as well as offline. Select Tiffany stores will offer a special ‘Death on the Nile’ curated collection of diamond-intensive jewelry based on the looks from the movie, including the exquisite Tiffany & Co. Victoria and Schlumberger designs. The store windows at Tiffany Flagship Next Door in New York, the Beverly Hills boutique in Los Angeles, and the Old Bond Street location in London will showcase the spirit of intrigue and mystery of Christie’s renowned novel, and also feature jewelry from the movie.
Death on the Nile, a Hercule Poirot mystery, stars Tom Bateman, Annette Bening, Kenneth Branagh, Russell Brand, Ali Fazal, Dawn French, Gal Gadot, Armie Hammer, Rose Leslie, Emma Mackey, Sophie Okonedo, Jennifer Saunders, and Letitia Wright. Set amid the undulating desert and pyramids of Egypt, the Tiffany Diamond is a perfect fit in the gilded and elegant world of impeccably dressed characters, who are caught amid a shocking turn of events.
