May 8, 2023: Bonhams has always brought the most stunning jewelry to their auctions. This May, with another impressive collection of jewels, Bonhams Hong Kong Jewels and Jadeite sale will exhibit an exceptional ruby and diamond ring. The ring flaunts a Burmese ruby weighing 7.07 carats, set in 18 karat white and yellow gold, surrounded with eight oval diamonds. The cushion shaped gem has the highly coveted pigeon blood red hue, which is sure to achieve HK$6,800,000-8,800,000.
Equally graceful is a ruby and diamond necklace offered with an estimate of HK$6,000,000-8,000,000. The necklace has a cushion shaped Burmese ruby weighing 23.45 carats, surrounded by oval and round brilliant-cut diamonds.
Another notable jewel is a double strand diamond rivière necklace made by J.E. Caldwell & Co., an American brand founded in 1868, which created some of the best pieces of jewelry from the American Belle Époque and Art Nouveau periods. The articulated necklace, which is from the first quarter of the 20th century, is set with gradual old-European cut diamonds weighing approximately 153 carats, with center stones of 11.53 and 8.41 carats of J color and VVS-VS clarities. It will be offered with an estimate of HK$12,000,000-16,000,000.
A pair of natural ruby and diamond pendant chandelier earrings of 22.52 carats, estimated to achieve HK$2,500,000-3,500,000, adds to the celebration of colors. Vivid red Burmese rubies and diamonds adorn the fringes dangling from the chandelier earring. Two standout pieces from the assortment are a lush green jadeite bangle and an 8.33 carat Brazilian Cabochon diamond ring adorned with blue Paraiba Tourmaline.
This spectacular offering of jewels also include a burnt umber diamond and diamond ring set in a pear shape (HK$1,400,000-2,500,000); a special 7.09 carat radiant cut yellow diamond and diamond ring (HK$2,300,000-3,000,000); and an unheated 17.61 carat Burmese sapphire and diamond ring adorned with round brilliant-cut diamonds (HK$1,600,000-1,800,000).
