A. Lange & Soehne introduces Saxonia Annual Calendar for US in a grey dial

May 7, 2018: Debuted in 2010, A. Lange & Soehne’s simply designed Saxonia Annual Calendar has now been designed exclusively for the US market in a white-gold edition with a grey dial, limited to only 25 pieces, and differing from regular pieces in two tiny but significant details.

A Lange & Sohne Saxonia Annual Calendar for America

In addition to the time, the Saxonia Annual Calendar indicates the date, month, day of the week and moon phase. A sophisticated mechanism ensures that the different month durations are correctly displayed from March to January. The date must only be advanced once a year, when February transitions into March. The exceptionally accurate moon phase display only needs to be corrected by one day every 122.6 years.

A Lange & Sohne Saxonia Annual Calendar for AmericaThe self-winding SAX-0-MAT calibre features Lange’s patented ZERO-RESET function: when the crown is pulled, the movement stops and the second hand jumps to the zero position, making it easy to accurately set the time. Ample power is delivered by the bidirectionally winding rotor in 21-carat gold. Its centrifugal mass, made of platinum, adds extra inertia. In this limited edition, the rotor parts around the embossed A. Lange & Söhne logo are plated in black rhodium. To bring back the golden appearance, a circular graining has been added on top – this has never been done to any Lange rotor before.

The sleek grey dial of the watch delivers its information in a well-organised manner. The colour harmonises perfectly with the 38.5-mm white-gold case and the shiny blue alligator strap. Lange’s attention to detail extends even to the font inside the date window: for the first time in a SAXONIA timepiece, the outsize date is realized with white numerals on a grey background, perfectly matching the colour of the dial.

A glance through the sapphire-crystal caseback reveals the finished movement. All parts are individually decorated and polished by hand. The classic screw balance oscillates beneath the hand-engraved balance cock to make each watch a unique piece of art. The exclusive US edition is only available at A. Lange & Söhne boutiques in New York, Miami and Costa Mesa.
