Luxury weddings in CaribbeanA wedding is a beautiful union of two people. And more often than not, you’ll hear people, especially today’s generation, raising questions about why Indian weddings are such crowded affairs with those you know, those your barely know and those you absolutely don’t know making an appearance and having fun at your expense!

Intimate weddings are the order of the day now with youngsters planning small weddings in a lavish way. We found a gem of an organization doing just that in Mexico – Caribbean Sweet Weddings. You just need to pick from their varied packages and they’ll plan and execute your wedding perfectly. If you don’t want one of their packages and want something more customized, well, then they’ll create a special plan for you and make your wedding fantasy come true!

Caribbean Sweet Weddings offers a wide range of wedding possibilities in Mexico, one of the most romantic destinations in the world. They take care of everything from beginning to the end. Invitations, documents and witnesses, wedding clothes, location, decoration, flowers, wedding cake, photographer, reception, entertainment, fireworks, your transfers in limousines, yacht or helicopters and more! Dulce Garcia, General Manager of Caribbean Sweet Weddings says, “We can organise everything and anything a couple wishes. If they want snow on the beach, we will do it. We will do all that they want. It just depends on their imagination.”

Luxury weddings in CaribbeanWhile some of their wedding themes, like the Exotic Wedding, Mayan Wedding and Emotion Wedding have restrictions on the guest limit, other plans don’t. In the Exotic wedding, which accommodates maximum 28 guests, you can get married in a submarine! The submarine will take you to the bottom of the Cozumel seabed which is filled with unique sea creatures. With the Cozumel Submarine, you come up and go down very quickly without a need for decompression. This makes it easy for you to quickly get to the best part - your wedding! A submarine wedding lasts approximately 45 minutes. The submarine offers its passengers a fantastic underwater experience with extra-large viewing ports to allow you to enjoy the wonders of the deep.

A Mayan wedding is the ultimate in creating and living history. Cozumel is surrounded by a breathtaking Archeological Zone. A beautiful wedding ambience can be created in the Zone. The Mayans have the tradition of asking the elements and the energy of the Universe to be present at weddings. The Shaman, traditional healer of this culture, will bless your wedding according to the ancient custom, with the four elements and energy that will last forever.

Get married with dolphins swimming around you in the Emotion wedding, which allows a maximum of 12 guests. Following the vows, the bride and groom can celebrate their new beginning together with a special swim with dolphins, a delicious banquet and the most exquisite music. You can have the banquet at the beach.

Another absolutely unique wedding package they have is The Wedding of the Soul (maximum 20 guests). Get married the ancient way in the middle of the jungle at night surrounded by bright stars. Your guests can experience the ancient purification ritual which still uses a Temazcal, an ancient sweat lodge, used by priests and kings to be reborn as warriors. The Temazcal is a rustic sauna bath with many therapeutic qualities. It’s a part of a very old tradition to clean the mind and body. The Mayan Biosphere offers your guests a magical night in the heart of the jungle in Cozumel. They will find themselves travelling through time by being part of ancient Mayan rituals.

Luxury Indian weddings in CaribbeanWhile the above mentioned plans have a certain uniqueness and excitement to them, the Paradise wedding seems to be the most beautiful and simple of all. The plan includes getting married in a private island. Cozumel is the home of Ixchel goddess, where the Mayan constructed their ceremonial temples, considering it a special place since first rays of the sun in Mexico touched this island. Weddings on this island, by the beachfront, are usually conducted during sunset. As the sun dips into the turquoise sea, it creates a truly serene spectacle. One of the advantages of a beach wedding is that not only is the backdrop dreamy and fairy tale like, but options for outdoor fun are numerous too.

Does all of this sound too ‘non-Indian’? Wait, let us give you an example of an Indian couple who got married here, keeping alive the Indian culture as well. Keni and Punam Patel had a Paradise wedding in Cozumel with a lot of customization. They had 180 guests who arrived at the island in a cruise ship. Keni had a typical Indian procession with a white coloured horse carriage. The decoration colours at the wedding venue were orange, green and white since Punam’s lehenga and jewellery had those colours. The wedding ceremony was conducted at the ‘Theatre location’ which has an incredible ocean view. Refreshing coconut water, in the true Caribbean spirit, was served to the guests during the ceremony. Boutonnières (buttonholes) made of orange rose spray and palm leaf were given as a gift to the guests.

Once the wedding was over, the couple had a beautiful reception in a restaurant named Reef. It has an incredible ocean view. The buffet was a mix between Indian and Mexican food. Finally, they returned to Puerta Maya Port to take the cruise ship to Miami where they celebrated their wedding party at night.

Weddings are no more about just show-off. It’s also about creating that special atmosphere and a halo of love around your near and dear ones.
