GUCCI ANNOUNCES THE LAUNCH OF ITS NEW DÉCOR COLLECTION

July 19, 2017: Gucci is pleased to announce the launch of Gucci Décor this September philosophized by Gucci Creative Director Alessandro Michele. This is an eclectic collection of items that allow the customer to customize their home in whatever way they see fit. The patterns and designs are inspired by his existing fashion collection but have been reconfigured to fit the style of furniture and home accessories.
The Gucci Garden Lexicon is a strong influence on the collection, as well as flora and creatures appearing on screens, cushions or teapots. With the help of Richard Ginori, smaller porcelain pieces are incorporated into the collection.  Michele has designed a range of patterned crockery featuring a green and white Herbarium decoration, and scented-candle holders that come in House patterns with the Herbarium floral print, geometric chevrons, or a solid pink color. The animals from the Gucci Garden collection– bees, butterflies and cockerel heads – are rendered in porcelain 3D and are attached to pots, lids and incense holders. There are four scents of candles: Inventum (a note of ancient damask rose, blended with Taif rose); Fumus (the scent of birch, mingled with that of orange leaves and beeswax); Herbosum (tomato leaves and aromatic plants, mixed with the fragrance of long grass peppered with basil and lemongrass); and Esotericum (the bitter aroma of Seville oranges, intertwined with notes of jasmine, leather and salt). There is only one upholstered chair, which has a bright floral jacquard with silver details. Other chairs are meant for dining as they are wooden and high-backed with lacquered colorful frames and padded seats that display House motifs: the cat, tiger, Staffordshire ceramic dog, moth, bee and roaring tiger. To partition living spaces, there are decorative folding screens. The screens come in a garden print, a pineapple print, geometrics, and patterns featuring octopuses or leaves all revive designs originally seen in Gucci’s fashion collections. Finally, there is a range of unconventional wallpapers that come in silk, vinyl and paper. Gucci Décor will be launched from September with a progressive global roll-out in Gucci flagship stores, online at gucci.com and selected specialty stores.
